This is where the questions started. I grew up between a small town in Southern Illinois and the hills of western Arkansas, where river bottoms and ridgelines were the first places I learned to roam on my own. Civic engagement, land conservation, and business were all part of my upbringing, and I spent time in each. That combination has shaped what I have been interested in ever since.
